Everyone is wary of signing up to yet another newsletter or mailing list but here are 3 good reasons why you should sign up to the West Lavington Village mailing list:
1. You could miss something important
The Parish Council gets lots of useful and important information and we cannot share it with everyone easily. We do have the Parish notice boards but not everyone walks past them and distributing paper copies just isn’t feasible. So we would like to be able to use electronic communication when there is something we think you might want to know about.
Don’t worry, we are not going to bombard you with lots of emails – but we would like to engage more people in the Village when it comes to things like the Village Design Statement, something that affects Planning in our local area. Even if you don’t want to contribute to something like the Village Design Statement, you might like to know of the outcome.
2. You could miss out on the fun stuff too!
It’s not just the serious matters that you might miss but also the fun stuff like the BBQ or Quiz nights. Sadly, it won’t always be feasible to print flyers or leaflets announcing Village social events but we feel that not only will these events be easier to organise, but also easier and cheaper to promote if we can do it electronically.
We have lot’s of ideas for future Village social events (and we are always open to new ideas) so if you want to keep up with what’s going on, please sign up to our mailing list.
3. Make sure your voice is heard
Our aim is to get most, if not all, households in the Village on our mailing list and engaging with the website. That way, whenever there is an important issue that needs debating we can ask for your views more easily.
For example, at the moment there is a revised application being prepared for the infill work at Pendean. Getting a meeting together at short notice is difficult when we don’t have everyone’s email address and we have to rely on residents to spread the word. How much easier it would be if we could just send out an email to everyone.
Again, when it comes to the Village Design Statement we will be seeking residents’ views – we don’t want to have to spend your money on producing paper documents for everyone.
